Nike High-5

A global employee-recognition experience, built to run itself

The Problem

Recognition is culture. Nike needed a simple, global way for employees to celebrate each other that felt like Nike and worked everywhere.

What I Built

High-5 lets anyone recognize up to ten teammates at once, tie the recognition to a Nike Maxim or Value (Win as a Team, Do the Right Thing, and the rest), and say why. The recipients and their manager get the note by email, and every person carries a running record of what they have been recognized for. Sergio Slansky and I designed the whole system together, from the interaction model through the components, on Nike's design system, and wired it into the Find Nike search experience so recognition lived where people already worked.

The Handoff

Once it was running, I trained and onboarded Myra, then handed the keep-the-lights-on ownership to her and the Digital Employee Experience team. Building the thing, then building the team to run it, is the point.

Why It Matters

The same belief runs through all of it: technology feels human when it makes the people inside it visible. High-5 took an abstract company value and turned it into something coworkers actually do for each other, by name, in the middle of a workday.

Impact

High-5 went global and settled into a small daily habit: recognition that lived inside the Find Nike search people already opened every day, rather than one more site to remember to visit.
